NOVELARA × GRAPE KING BIO

Erinacine A standardized Lion’s Mane mycelium

ErinaPrime is pure Lion’s Mane mycelium with 0.5% or 1% erinacine A, produced through submerged fermentation. We are proud to partner with Grape King Bio, building on their extensive work with erinacine A-enriched mycelium, including multiple published human studies.

THE RIGHT PART OF THE ORGANISM

Fruiting body and mycelium are chemically different.

Lion’s Mane fruiting body and mycelium are two parts of the same fungus, but they do not contain the same compounds.

Erinacine A is associated with cultured Lion’s Mane mycelium. It is not a marker for fruiting-body extract. ErinaPrime uses liquid-cultured mycelium and does not contain cereal grain.

No myceliated grain. The mycelial biomass is grown in liquid culture, separated from the fermentation medium, freeze-dried and milled.

GRAIN-FREE VS. MYCELIUM ON GRAIN

Not all Lion’s Mane mycelium is the same.

ErinaPrime is grain-free Lion’s Mane mycelium produced through submerged fermentation and standardized to erinacine A. Many mycelium-on-grain materials contain the residual grain substrate as part of the finished ingredient. That difference matters, and it becomes clear in HPTLC.

MYCELIUM ON GRAIN

Mycelium + grain substrate
The finished powder can contain both fungal biomass and residual cereal grain.
Solid-state cultivation
Mycelium grows throughout a grain-based substrate.
Different material profile
The resulting composition is not equivalent to grain-free mycelium and is not inherently standardized to erinacine A.

THE GRAPE KING RESEARCH PROGRAM

Erinacine A-enriched mycelium has been studied in people.

Grape King Bio and academic collaborators have published research on erinacine A-enriched H. erinaceus mycelium since 2014, including randomized human studies.

Scope of the evidence

The studies used Grape King’s erinacine A-enriched H. erinaceus mycelium. The 49-week study used 0.5% material. ErinaPrime is available at 0.5% and 1%. Results depend on the population, dose and study design and should not be treated as finished-product claims.

Healthy cognition

33adults over 55 · 8 weeks

3.44 mg erinacine A per day

The erinacine A-enriched Lion’s Mane group improved on the adjusted cognitive ability score. The study also reported greater gut-microbiota diversity and found the intervention safe and well tolerated.

Neurocognitive aging

49randomized · 41 completed · 49 weeks

1,050 mg/day of 0.5% material · 5.25 mg erinacine A

In participants with mild Alzheimer’s disease, the paper reported a within-group improvement in MMSE and a between-group difference in IADL at week 49. It also reported contrast-sensitivity findings. This was a small pilot study.

Hearing research

80adults ages 50 to 79 · 8 months

2,000 mg mycelium per day

Among participants aged 65 and older with hearing impairment, the subgroup analysis found between-group differences in several high-frequency and speech measures, along with an NGF finding.
